Programs, communities & events I’ve organized

I enjoy the operational side of academic life: bringing people together, designing programs, and building interdisciplinary communities.

First Workshop on Formal Languages and Neural Networks (FLaNN)

Co-organized the first in-person workshop of the FLaNN community, turning a long-running online seminar series into a three-day interdisciplinary event. I worked on the program, invited speakers, participant communication and support, funding, and on-site logistics.

Theory of Neural Language Models

Co-organized Dagstuhl Seminar 25282 with Pablo Barceló, David Chiang, and George Cybenko. The week brought together researchers from formal languages, computational complexity, logic, natural language processing, and machine learning to discuss open problems in the theory of neural language models.

Expressivity of Transformers: Logic, Circuits, and Formal Languages

Co-organized and developed a five-day ESSLLI course with David Chiang, Jon Rawski, and Andy J Yang. The course connected transformer expressivity with automata, Boolean circuits, formal logic, computability, and complexity theory for an interdisciplinary audience.
